Miria Matembe 

Born bold and fearless, Hon. Dr. Miria R.K. Matembe is a fearless leader and a pioneer on many fronts. She is famous for her courage in speaking truth to power. She has been a pacesetter and women's rights activist, member of the Odoki Constitutional Commission, Constituent Assembly Delegate, Member of Parliament and Minister of Ethics and Integrity in Uganda as well as a pioneer member of the Pan African Parliament. 

She has lived a life to marvel at . and has enthralled and irked the population in equal measure. One thing though is for sure: her wit, courage, persistence and sheer willpower has seen her through where others would have quit. To humanity's reward, she has been able to chart new paths for women in Uganda and beyond.

She earned a Bachelors of Law Degree from Makerere University and a Masters of Law from the University of Warwick in England. She was also awarded an Honorary Doctor of Law from the University of Victoria, Canada in recognition of her lifelong dedication to women empowerment and the fight for justice, equality and fairness for all.

Miria is married to Nekemia Matembe with whom they have been blessed with many children and grandchildren. She is a born again Christian who delights in serving the lord.
